Our most recent event was in October 2011; Damien Grant spoke on "Building against earthquakes; lessons from Christchurch". Following his address, Belinda Brown, Deputy High Commissioner, gave us a brief update on the situation in Christchurch and the impact to the New Zealand economy.

Read a report of the event by NZUGA member Tom Aitken.

We gave a grant to Gerri Kimber in 2011 to assist with her costs of a research trip to New Zealand. Gerri is working on a 2 volume annotated edition of the fiction works of Katherine Mansfield, to be published in 2013. She sent us this letter of thanks, and also an account of her work in New Zealand in August 2011.
In early 2011 we collected around £1400 from our members to remit to Canterbury University towards their earthquake scholarship fund. We have received this letter of thanks from them.

The New Zealand Universities Graduates' Association was established with the objectives of furthering opportunities for graduates of New Zealand universities in the UK, establishing and suggesting useful contacts for members and visitors, maintaining a register of contacts, arranging social functions for members and partners, establishing links with Universities throughout New Zealand and the UK, and assisting in communications and providing guidance to University graduates from New Zealand in the UK.

We meet three times a year for a social event that includes a guest speaker.  The venue is the Penthouse of NZ House, with its unequalled panoramic views over London.  The October meeting incorporates our AGM.
